The next EMP from a solar superstorm to strike the Earth will destroy all electrical equipment on the planet just like in the Carrington Event of 1859, except in today's world everything runs on electricity. Warnings to this natural disaster threat are often dismissed as "fear mongering", but "fear mongering" is not a scientific answer.
The last time an EMP from the sun struck the earth, during the Carrington Event of 1859, it was recorded that "That night, telegraph communications around the world began to fail; there were reports of sparks showering from telegraph machines, shocking operators and setting papers ablaze."
If this happens in today's world, which is dependent on electricity, the damage that will be done to our civilization is a lot more severe now that our electrical equipment is not only telegraph machines.

In the year 2012, NASA recorded an EMP from the sun that missed the earth by 9 days. NASA said that if this EMP was visible like a giant asteroid that barely missed the earth, the story would have made world news.
